Pan-Asian Dance Troupe holds its annual auditions at the beginning of each Fall semester. Prospective dancers must attend an open audition and, if selected, a callback audition which takes place later in the week.

No previous dance experience is necessary. We hope to see you there!

Frequently Asked Questions:

1. What do your auditions consist of?

Both our open and callback auditions begin with basic warm-ups and stretching, followed by a demonstration of the audition choreography.  For the remainder of the time, the dancers learn the combination and perform in small groups at the end of the session. In our open auditions, we typically teach a hip-hop combination.  In our callback auditions, we teach Asian traditional or fusion choreography, which includes open-hand styles and/or props.

2. What do you look for in dancers?

In addition to good dance technique, we also note prospective dancers' work ethic and attitudes throughout our auditions.  Show us your passion for dance and have fun with the choreography! Don't be afraid to ask questions and talk with our current members!

3. What if I don't have previous dance experience?

Don't let lack of dance experience discourage you from auditioning. Many of our current members had no previous dance experience when they joined the Troupe.  What's more important than experience is the potential to grow as a dancer.

4. I plan to audition for another group in addition to Pan-Asian, but the audition times overlap. What should I do?

We offer two open auditions, please attend the time that best accommodates your schedule.  If neither of these time slots fit into your schedule, please contact us for information regarding make-up auditions.

5. What should I wear to your auditions?

Please wear comfortable clothes and athletic/dance shoes that you can move easily in.
